| 12-22-09 This afternoon we were called to Highland Road west of Route 10 for an accident involving a tractor and trailer with a fuel spill. We immediately dispatched our spill team to the scene to begin pumping the fuel tanks to prevent any further contamination. We also dispatched #04 and 94. Upon the crews arrival they found a tractor and trailer that had jack knifed and was completely blocking the roadway. Crews set up to pump the tank and to contain the fuel that had already spilled from the tank. Our skid loader was also dispatched to the scene due to the large amount of snow that was pushed into the roadway by the truck. Once the fuel leak was stopped 94 was used to lift the rear of the trailer and push it away from the tractor. 04 was then used to separate the truck and trailer. The trailer was then towed from the scene by 04. 94 worked to recover the tractor portion out of the field and tow it back to our facility. The snow was then removed from the roadway. THANKS TO THE PARKESBURG FIRE COMPANY FOR ALL OF THEIR HELP! |
